Hello! My name is Joseph Herrin. I was born in a small town in the state of Georgia on May 7, 1961.
Back in October of 1999 the Lord made it known to me that it was His desire for me to leave my employment as a computer professional at a local hospital and to trust Him for all of my family's provision. This was a big step, but it built upon other steps of faith He had already led us into, and He had proven Himself faithful in each occasion.
When I left my employer I had only the money from my last paycheck and from the vacation time I had saved up. This lasted for a few months, and then we were totally cast upon the Lord for our provision. He has never failed us, and though we have known some lean times, we have never lacked for any necessary thing. On a great number of occasions, at some critical moment, God would manifest His provision for us from some unlooked for source. Oftentimes it has been through the gifts of various children of God whom the Spirit of God has impressed to contribute to our support.
We have seen many miracles of provision. Yahweh is teaching all of His obedient children to be content in whatever circumstance they find themselves in, whether in humble means, or in abundance, whether in lack, or having a suffciency. Having food and covering we desire to be content.
It is my conviction that God would have me offer all the books and teachings on this website at no cost so that no saint would be prohibited from receiving those things taught here by God's Spirit. Freely we have received, so freely we give. We trust in God's faithfulness, and in the love and generosity of the saints who are willing to give to supply that which we need. Paul expressed this principle in the following verses:
I Corinthians 9:11, 14
If we have sown spiritual things in you, is it too much if we reap material things from you?... So also the Lord directed those who proclaim the gospel to get their living from the gospel.
We have been the recipients of a very great generosity from the hands of a few saints, and we have rejoiced at times when someone has given sacrificially to our needs. Paul summed it up well:
Philippians 4:15-17
You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone; for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account.
My life is truly in the Lord's hands. When things get critical I cry out to Him, and not to men, to meet my needs. Yet God has chosen to work through the lives of men and women, as every joint and sinew in the body of Christ is called to provide that which is lacking in the other members of the body.
When I do encounter a saint who manifests a real concern for the welfare of fellow saints, and who gives with a joyful liberality, I rejoice, for I know that such a heart finds favor with the Lord who said:
Mark 9:41
For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.
As Paul also said to the Ephesian believers when they sent a gift for his support:
Philippians 4:14
You have done well to share with me in my affliction.
If you have further questions about the Lord's will, for those who proclaim the gospel to make their living from the gospel, I would recommend the article on the Q&A page, " Should Ministers of the Gospel be Paid".
May you be blessed with peace and understanding in these days!
