The shuttle carried Israel’s first astronaut, and quite remarkably the first ground reports from witnesses observing this calamity came from the town of Palestine, Texas. In the article “The Disintegration of Columbia” I wrote about the prophetic symbolism of this event. Columbia is the feminine personification of the Unites States of America, and Yahweh has demonstrated through this sign that judgment is coming to her.</div> <bR> <div> I wasn’t looking for a second witness to this event, for I had already noted the events of 9-11 as being a confirmation of the judgment that is coming to America due to her rejection of God and her many sins that have arisen out of her pursuit of pleasure, prosperity and ease. Yet the Spirit led me to an unexpected parallel testimony of what is coming, using the exact same words that He spoke to me concerning the shuttle disaster. The event is far removed from Texas, but the exact same words are being spoken; the words “The Disintegration of Columbia.”</div> <bR> <div> In 1890 Captain Cook visited Prince William Sound in what is now the state of Alaska, and he observed a massive glacier that he named “Columbia Glacier”. This glacier covers an area of approximately forty square miles, and is one of 52 tidewater glaciers in Alaska. A tidewater glacier is one that has it’s terminus in the sea, and they are often tourist attractions as people flock to them to observe huge chunks of the glacier breaking off in what is called calving. These chunks of ice are the source of icebergs that can create a hazard for ocean shipping.</div> <bR> <div> The Columbia glacier lies about 25 miles west of Valdez, Alaska, which is the site of a major oil terminal where supertankers are filled with Alaskan oil. It was partially due to ice that had broken off from the Columbia Glacier that the captain of the Exxon Valdez altered course and ran aground in 1989, causing the massive and costly environmental disaster that is associated with the name of this ship. Ice calving from this glacier continues to pose a threat to oil tankers to this day.</div> <bR> <div> One theme that continues to reoccur in relationship to signs that are being given is the tie-in with oil to the events of this day. The looming war in Iraq has more to do with taking control of her oil fields than it does with removing a threat of terrorism. This is evident to many people. Just last week a news item reported that the American government leaders have warned the Kurdish and Turkish military leaders to stay clear of the northern Iraqi oil cities of Mosul and Kirkuk. Government officials of the U.S.A. are eyeing these oil fields as a rich prize that can keep both money and oil flowing to America while also giving her a position of influence in OPEC.</div> <bR> <div> Some months back the Spirit led me to write an article titled “Black Oil Anointing” that speaks of the reason that we are seeing such a focus on areas of the world where oil production is centered, and why so many of America’s government leaders have profound relationships to the petroleum industry. To quote that article:</div> <bR> <div> America is the greatest single nation on earth in it’s industry and labor. Yet it is all dependent upon a black oil anointing. America runs on petroleum. Why is President Bush interested in Iraq? For the same reason his father was interested in Kuwait. Black oil! Power to accomplish the purposes of man. Consider the following facts about some of the major figures in America’s government:</div> <bR> <div> President George W. Bush: He owned Arbusto Oil prior to running for President. (Arbusto is ‘bush’ in Spanish) His company was literally named “Bush Oil”. Many prophets have spoken of this president being a burning bush, but this burning bush is fueled by a counterfeit anointing oil.</div> <bR> <div> Vice President Dick Cheney: Was a Director of Halliburton Company, the world’s second largest manufacturer of equipment for the oil industry.</div> <bR> <div> National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice: Was a Director of Chevron Oil Corporation, and even had an oil supertanker named after her. This tanker was renamed after she became an aide to the current president to quell any controversy that might arise from those who felt her oil ties were a conflict of interest.</div> <bR> <div> Secretary of State Colin Powell: Led the war in the Gulf, Desert Storm, to free Kuwait from Iraq and restore the flow of oil to the U.S.</div> <bR> <div> Notice a pattern here? Our nation craves this anointing that comes from the earth for it is a source of great power. If the U.S. were to have it’s supply of oil threatened it’s power would be in jeopardy. Therefore, the U.S. will do everything it can to insure that it can keep a steady flow of oil coming to it. </div> <div> [end excerpt]</div> <bR> <div> Much of America’s policy in relationship to Israel is focused upon appeasing Israel’s Arab neighbors who sit upon such vast petroleum resources. America has chosen to pressure Israel to give up a portion of her land that was promised to the descendants of Abraham by Yahweh, in order to mollify those who control so much of the region’s oil. America’s policies are not based upon righteousness, but rather upon mercenary considerations.</div> <bR> <div> It should be evident to any person who views world events with a discerning eye, that there are many people groups today who are crying out for their own land and nation. There are groups that are much greater in population than the Palestinians, and there are groups that have a history in the lands they inhabit that goes far beyond that which is claimed by Yasser Arafat and the PLO. The Kurdish people of Northern Iraq and Turkey are said to be the largest clearly defined people group who do not have their own nation, and they have suffered greatly at the hands of the nation’s who claim sovereignty over the land they have inhabited for centuries.</div> <bR> <div> It is not too hard to discern why America is not pressing for a Kurdish nation. Such a nation is unpopular with the Arabs, yet these same Arab nations have an extreme interest in taking Israel’s lands away from her by any means possible, and therefore they are extremely vocal in calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state, and they constantly broadcast what they believe to be Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian population. </div> <bR> <div> These same leaders are silent when it comes to speaking out against the atrocities inflicted against the Kurdish population, even when weapons of mass destruction were used against Kurdish enclaves, wiping out entire villages with poison gas. Can you imagine the furor that would be unleashed against Israel had she chosen to do the same thing against the Palestinian population. Yet the Arab nations, and those who depend upon them for oil, are silent when such attacks are carried out against peoples living in their midst.</div> <bR> <div> America’s pressure on the nation of Israel to give up her land to create a Palestinian state is not based upon righteousness, nor does it take into account Israel’s historic  and divine right to the land she inhabits, a land that was promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and to their descendants for a thousand generations. America’s policies are clearly the result of a concern to keep the oil flowing to her own shores by appeasing the unrighteous claims of Israel’s Arab enemies who have vowed that they will not be content until all the Jews are driven into the sea.</div> <bR> <div> In the article “The Disintegration of Columbia” I shared the following:</div> <bR> <div> It is not likely a coincidence that the day before Columbia was destroyed America’s Secretary of State Colin Powell made this announcement:</div> <bR> <div> Powell: Bush to be more involved in</div> <div> Israeli-Palestinian conflict </div> <div>  </div> <div> By The Associated Press 2/1/03 </div> <div>  </div> <div> WASHINGTON - U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said Friday that <I><B>President George Bush will become more deeply involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict than he was in his first two years in the White House. </B></I></div> <bR> <div> Powell said that the conflict was the most pressing problem in the Middle East. </div> <bR> <div> Powell also told the Palestinians that "they cannot get a state by using violence" and warned that they must install a new leadership. </div> <bR> <div> Appearing before a national conference of Americans interested in U.S. foreign policy, <I><B>Powell said the administration would resume its pursuit of a settlement </B></I>now that Israel had concluded its elections. </div> <bR> <div> He said he had talked by telephone to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who won a new term this week, and that the Bush administration would use the roadmap devised in partnership with the European Union, Russia and the United Nations. </div> <bR> <div> <I><B>It aims to create a Palestinian state by the year 2005 carved out of land that Israel has held for more than 35 years... </B></I></div> <div> [end excerpt, highlighting added]</div> <bR> <div> The day after this announcement was made, the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated over Palestine, Texas. Columbia is the feminine personification of America and this event symbolizes America being judged for her self-serving actions in seeking to force Israel into surrendering her lands to create a state called Palestine. By the judgment that America has judged Israel by, she will be judged. As she has sought to divide, and mete out to others the inheritance of the descendants of Abraham, God will divide her land and give her wealth away to the nations.</div> <bR> <div> Today the Spirit led me to a second witness that further corroborates what He is speaking. Only this article was not written in February of 2003, it was written in December of 2000. And this news piece is not on the space shuttle disaster, it is about a massive glacier that has begun to fall apart and recede, losing much of it’s mass, after more than a century of progress.</div> <bR> <div> <B>Alaska's Speedy Columbia Glacier On Likely Disintegration Course</B></div> <bR> <div> Alaska’s Columbia Glacier, heralded as the world’s speediest glacier, appears to be on a course to disintegrate and evolve into a spectacular fjord rivaling Glacier Bay in the coming years, according to a University of Colorado at Boulder researcher.</div> <bR> <div> The glacier continues to move at speeds of up to 34 meters a day, a snail’s pace to most but astoundingly swift to glaciologists, said Tad Pfeffer, a fellow of CU-Boulder’s Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research. Descending from the Chugach Mountains into Prince Williams Sound near Valdez, the Columbia Glacier has retreated about 12 kilometers since 1982 and thinned significantly in that time. </div> <bR> <div> "The glacier is calving icebergs into Prince Williams Sound much faster than it is accumulating new snow," said Pfeffer, also an associate professor in civil, environmental and architectural engineering. "<I><B>It is spending its capital, in effect. The glacier either will retreat rapidly up the fjord or thin rapidly and essentially disintegrate in an abrupt event...</B></I>" </div> <bR> <div> The Columbia Glacier is expected to eventually retreat as far as 25 kilometers up the glacial valley to a point equal to sea level. "It should be quite a spectacular sight in the not too distant future," said Pfeffer. "We intend to follow the process very closely..." </div> <bR> <div> Pfeffer predicted the Columbia Glacier may well be transformed into a large fjord within 50 years and perhaps in less than a decade. "We don’t know enough about the physics of tidewater glaciers yet," he said. "But I think we may be seeing tour boats where the glacier is presently sitting in the not too distant future." [Source: University of Colorado at Boulder]</div> <bR> <div> What a parallel is seen in these words that the Columbia glacier <I>“is spending its capital</I>” and may “<I>essentially disintegrate in an abrupt event.</I>” America has already begun a sharp decline in capital. Her stock markets have lost massive amounts of value. Foreign investment is being withdrawn. The huge budget surplus that was predicted just a little more than two years ago has completely evaporated, and now both at the federal and state levels governments are seeing shortfalls and are being faced with cutting back drastically on services. Unemployment is up and spending is down. Revelations of corporate malfeasance are rampant, and investors are discovering that they have been lied to about the profitability of one company after another.</div> <bR> <div> Another remarkable parallel to this glacier named Columbia, and to America, is seen by comparing the description here that it is "the world's speediest glacier" to the words of Abraham Lincoln when he announced a national day of prayer in the year 1863.</div> <bR> <div> We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. </div> <bR> <div> We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.</div> <bR> <div> President Lincoln recognized that the growth of America (Columbia) in numbers, wealth, and power was greater than any other nation. Even so, this speedy glacier, the fastest in the world, has been a fitting emblem of the nation in which it resides. its sudden and dramatic reversal from a quick expansion to an even faster contraction and disintegration is highly significant.</div> <bR> <div> The disintegration of this glacier being related to the Exxon Valdez disaster of 1989 and causing continuing problems to the shipping of oil is one more witness of America’s judgment being related to her insatiable appetite for oil. America’s leaders have placed economic concerns above all else. America has determined that the oil must flow, and she is willing to place a lust for trade and prosperity above integrity and righteousness.</div> <bR> <div> When I searched further on the topic of the Columbia Glacier, I encountered other stories that spoke of the sudden reversal of this glacier that had been advancing for over a century. Words like “astonishing”, and “amazing” are being used to describe what is occurring. Larry Gedney, a seismologist at the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska Fairbanks, stated “Columbia Glacier... is rapidly losing its battle for survival.”</div> <bR> <div> Mark Meier of the U.S. Geological Survey in Tacoma, Washington, reports in an article written in 1984 and published in <I>Science News</I> that Columbia Glacier will be reduced to about half its present size in the next 30 to 50 years. This prediction was made 19 years ago. Larry Mayo of the U.S. Geological Survey in Fairbanks spoke of Columbia’s demise in this way, “This is an astonishing rate of disintegration.”</div> <bR> <div> God, in various ways, is testifying that this nation that has seen steady advance for so long, and has only known progress in it’s prosperity and power, will see a sudden and calamitous reversal. Columbia (America) will be met with such an amazing decline that those who observe it will be astonished. From Alaska to Texas this witness is being given. On the ground and in the heavens God is giving his testimony.</div> <bR> <div> The calamities that America has witnessed since 9-11 are only the beginning. As the scientists have predicted the Columbia Glacier’s disintegration will accelerate, so too will the erosion of all that America has gained in prosperity and power be witnessed in upcoming days. America has ascended to a great height, but she will be broken on the ground. Only a true and lasting repentance for her sins, and humility and integrity replacing the pride and deceit of this nation’s leaders, can cause God to withdraw the judgment that has already been determined.</div> <bR> <div> I urge you as saints to consider these signs that God is giving to America, and to seek His face to know how to prepare spiritually now for calamitous days ahead. It is time now to make Yahweh your refuge and strength. It is time now to know Him as your provider and protector and salvation. The staff of man will be broken.
